Borobudur
Borobudur, built in the 8th and 9th centuries, rises in three stages. Five square terraces, one inside the other, form a pyramid-like base; above them three round platforms narrow like a truncated cone, ringed by 72 latticed stupas, and a single great stupa crowns the top. Carved reliefs on the walls add up to 2,500 m².
