Villa Adriana (Tivoli)
Villa Hadriana
Emperor Hadrian built his villa at Tivoli, outside Rome, in the 2nd century AD as a kind of ‘ideal city’. Its many classical buildings pick out the best of Egyptian, Greek and Roman architecture and set them side by side, and the whole forms a complex of rare quality.
