Delphi
Δελφοί
Greeks from every city came to Delphi to consult Apollo’s oracle, and here lay the omphalos, believed to mark the navel of the world. In the 6th century BC the sanctuary stood at the centre of Greek religious life, and the Greek world saw in it the emblem of its unity.
